Terms of Service Change History

Atlassian (atlassian.net)

Different legal entity and service operator

The previous agreement was with Sykora IT s.r.o., a Czech company licensing Jira apps. The new agreement is with Arizona State University operating a research data repository. Users are subject to entirely different organizational policies, support structures, and legal jurisdictions.

Effective: September 28, 2026

Complete replacement of Terms of Service document

The entire terms of service has been replaced. The previous version was a EULA for USU Service Management Connector for Jira (a third-party app vendor agreement by Sykora IT s.r.o.). The new version is ASU Research Data Repository General Terms of Use governing a research data management platform. These are fundamentally different services with different operators, scopes, and legal frameworks.

Effective: November 18, 2020

Introduction of Data Use Agreement license option

The new ToS introduces a 'Data Use Agreement' as a legally-binding license contract between Depositors and Downloaders of datasets. This represents a new licensing mechanism not present in the previous Jira app agreement, giving depositors control over data usage restrictions.

Effective: November 18, 2020

ASU reserves unilateral right to modify terms without notice

The new agreement explicitly states ASU reserves the right to modify terms at sole discretion without prior notice, with continued use constituting acceptance. This is a broad modification clause that differs from typical vendor app agreements and gives ASU significant unilateral power over user obligations.

Effective: November 18, 2020

Shift from Czech law to Arizona State University jurisdiction

The previous agreement referenced Czech Republic law and Brno courts. The new agreement is governed by Arizona State University policies and operates under US law framework, representing a significant change in legal jurisdiction and applicable dispute resolution mechanisms.

Effective: November 18, 2020
