Ad personalization off

  1. 1Go to the Account Privacy page at spotify.com/account/privacy/
  2. 2Find the tailored ads setting (available for listeners of the free service)
  3. 3Withdraw consent or restrict processing of data used to play you tailored ads

  1. 1Go to the Notification Settings page at spotify.com/account/notifications/
  2. 2Review the list of notification types: Product News, Spotify News and Offers, Recommend Music, New Music, Playlist Updates, Concert Notifications, and Artist Updates
  3. 3Turn off any notification types you do not wish to receive via email or mobile device

Data download

  1. 1Go to the Account Privacy page at spotify.com/account/privacy/
  2. 2Use the 'Download your data' tool on that page to request a ZIP file of your personal data
  3. 3Alternatively, email privacy@spotify.com to request your data directly

Listening activity private session

  1. 1Open the Spotify desktop app
  2. 2Click the arrow (chevron) in the top-right corner of the app
  3. 3Select Settings
  4. 4Find the 'Private Session' option and enable it to hide your listening activity from Friend Activity, Recently Played, and Top Artists

Facebook data opt out

  1. 1Go to the Account Privacy page at spotify.com/account/privacy/
  2. 2Find the Facebook data processing setting (visible if you signed up via Facebook or connected your account to Facebook)
  3. 3Withdraw consent to prevent Spotify from processing your Facebook display name, profile picture, and Friends list

Data deletion

  1. 1Go to spotify.com/account/close/ or navigate to the account closure page
  2. 2Follow the prompts to close your account and delete your data permanently from all Spotify apps and services
  3. 3Check your email — Spotify will send a link to reactivate within 7 days if you change your mind
  4. 4After 7 days, the account cannot be reactivated and data deletion will be fully initiated

Listening activity publish off

  1. 1Open the Spotify desktop app
  2. 2Click the arrow (chevron) in the top-right corner of the app
  3. 3Select Settings
  4. 4Under 'Sharing your playlists and activity', turn off 'Publish Activity' to stop sharing your listening activity with friends
  5. 5Optionally also turn off 'Show my Recently Played Artists' and 'Automatically make new playlists public' for additional privacy
