Data export request

  1. 1Open Discord and click the gear icon in the lower-left corner to open User Settings.
  2. 2Select the 'Data & Privacy' tab.
  3. 3Under 'Request your data', click the 'Request Data' button.
  4. 4Wait for Discord to prepare your data package; you will receive an email with a download link when it is ready (this can take up to 30 days).

Contact sync opt out

  1. 1Open Discord and go to User Settings.
  2. 2Navigate to Privacy & Safety.
  3. 3Find the contact syncing option and toggle it off to stop future syncing.
  4. 4Remove any contacts already uploaded by selecting the option to delete synced contacts.

Third party app access restriction

  1. 1Open Discord and go to User Settings.
  2. 2Navigate to the 'Authorized Apps' section.
  3. 3Review the list of third-party applications that have been granted access to your account.
  4. 4Click 'Deauthorize' next to any app you want to revoke access for.

Two factor authentication enable

  1. 1Open Discord and go to User Settings, then My Account.
  2. 2Click 'Enable Two-Factor Auth'.
  3. 3Install an authenticator app (such as Authy or Google Authenticator) on your smartphone if you haven't already.
  4. 4Scan the QR code shown on screen with your authenticator app, or enter the code manually.
  5. 5Enter the six-digit code generated by the authenticator app into the 'Login with your code' field and click 'Activate'.
  6. 6Optionally, add your phone number and download backup codes for account recovery.

  3. 3Use the controls to manage third-party data usage for ad personalization (e.g., off-platform game interests) and gameplay activity sharing via connected accounts.

  3. 3Locate the data collection/analytics settings and disable the option that allows Discord to collect and use your data for product improvement.

  3. 3Scroll to the bottom and select 'Delete Account'.
  4. 4Follow the confirmation prompts to permanently delete your account.

  1. 1Discord has stated it does not allow AI companies to train models on user messages. However, Discord's policy does allow user content from public spaces to be used for its own automated detection systems and ML models for content moderation. Users should be aware of this distinction and can limit exposure by keeping communications in private channels rather than public servers.
